Seems like this kind of misses the point. Why would getting a different monitor suddenly change how your code should be written? Has nothing to do with YOUR monitor, but the monitors of others.

    Word. I've always limited line width to < ~80 chars not because that's the way it's always been done, but because long lines don't aid code comprehension. Quite the contrary. The flip side to the thesis presented in this article is that often things are done a certain way because that way has proven to have some value.
